Fuelfed Water, Wood & Wheels Tour 2016 (W3)
Calling all classics!
Why just limit the vintage motoring lifestyle to pavement, when water can add a splash (sorry) of speed excitement? Our combined club event will be what we call Water, Wood & Wheels Tour or W3 for short.
Starting at 8:30am on Saturday, September 24, 2016, we’ll be touring scenic roads to Lake Geneva for lunch and then over to the Abbey for the Geneva Lakes Antique and Classic Boat Show (GLACBS).
The GLACBS is an annual antique wooden boat show attracting the top national collectors for a weekend of boating fun, water & cocktails. Located at the picturesque Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI, the GLACBS is always classic Americana at its best. Classic Chris-Crafts, Rivas, Centuries, Gar Woods are all represented. Runabouts, Sportsman, Commanders, Speedsters are all moored for your viewing. At 4:00pm is the boat parade around Lake Geneva. Work it right, and you could catch a ride around Lake Geneva in a 1948 Sportsman.
This is a casual touring event suitable for veteran classics mechanically sound enough to travel 200 miles. We’ve chosen varying scenic roads to give enthusiasts a mix of landscapes. Plan on driving for 2.5 hours without a break (or break-down as the case may be).
This year in addition to the Lake Forest departure location, we will add a second departure location in the Barrington area if there is enough interest. Please mark your departure location on the form.
Please arrive at the departure location with your tanks full and IPass ready. At the boat show, Fuelfed members with classic cars will have private parking next to the show for our own little C&C. There is a $10 parking fee this year, but there is no entrance fee for the boat show. Everyone is free to wander as they want at the show and depart on his/her own. There is no set departure time or route back. It will be getting dark by 6:30, so most will take to highway 50 driving east to 94.
Unfortunately, space is limited to just twenty five classics this year. Members can drive their American classics as well. Please register below.
$40 event fee (includes the $10 parking fee) is payable at the event. Lunch not included in price.
8:00am drivers meeting inside the Lake Forest Oasis (LFO). A second departure location near Barrington area will be added if enough interest.
