Winter Parking Tradition in Chicago

As is tradition in Chicago after the first of year, old man winter slams his hammer down. The start for 2014 has been exceptional. 14 inches of relentless snow, -12 degrees as a high for the day and -25 for the low. What, we’re Minneapolis now?

Needless to say it’s dangerous out there. But if you are a true Chicagoan, you know the true danger is not the weather, but the parking. God forbid you take someone else’s pre-dug parking spot marked by lawn furniture, less you value your windshield. We always carry a shovel and two empty cardboard cases of Bud or Miller to mark our spot. Try using empty cases of fancy expensive wine and see what happens.
