Fuelfed Driver Tim Kautz Does it Again at COTA

Tim Kautz, Fuelfed member and owner of Euroquipe in St. Charles, Ill., will forever be known as the first driver in the SCCA SafeRacer National Series to take a checkered flag at the Circuit of the Americas, the home of the United States Grand Prix this past weekend in Austin Texas. Starting on pole in No. 88, Kautz led the first lap with Steve Bamford’s No. 07 in tow. Bamford grabbed the lead on lap two, then led until Kautz worked back in front on lap seven. Once in front, Kautz cruised to his historic victory.

Tim went on to win his second race on Sunday, making it a double header for the inaugural season opener. Tim won the SCCA FF championship last year and is certainly on course to do the same in 2013.

Having only started racing at age 45, Tim (now 50) is spanking the pants off all challengers. Just goes to show, that video game training just can’t sub for pure raw talent, regardless of age.
