The inaugural Evening Coffee & Classics was quite enjoyable with the beautiful weather and even more beautiful cars. About forty five cars ventured Sheridan Rd. to Plaza del Lago for a few hours of classic camaraderie.

Lou, Joe and Robert drove their Invicta, Cord and Rolls down from Highland Park with verve. All three were all smiles as they recapped their high speed passing antics down Sheridan Rd. Now that’s something you’d never see again. Rumor has it that the Invicta was unbeatable.

The 1923 Spanish Court; Plaza del Lago (third official US shopping court designed for vehicles) played the gracious host with majestic views of Lake Michigan just across the street. While the unsuspecting public didn’t know what to make of growing flash mob of classic cars. Patrons watching from Starbucks wandered out to take a closer look at Porsches and Peerless, 2002s and Duettos. Soon local neighbors with their classics starting rolling in as the word spread quickly via text. Even a vibrant orange Tesla couldn’t resist mingling with technology 50 years its senior.

The Fuelfed private email sign up filled up quick with new North Shore drivers keen on socializing with local enthusiasts.

Overall, a very relaxed, yet excitement charged gathering with new friends made, and classics brought into the Coffee & Classics fraternity.

As one new Coffee & Classics enthusiast put it: “What an incredible variety of fine European machinery…thank you for giving us the proper venue to network with other collectors”.  No, thank you for letting us share the passion.

Hope to see everyone at this Sunday mornings Coffee & Classics in Winnetka.
