Wisconsin June Road Tour

There is some recent interest in doing a two day road trip to western Wisconsin. Having done this tour many times on a motorcycle, I’ve always thought it would be great to get some like-minded drivers together and “test” these back roads on four wheels. These secret (to the unadventurous) roads are the best twisty’s within 600 miles of Chicago and some of the most majestic scenery this side of West Virginia or Colorado.

The small towns along the way offer honest Americana with great food and entertaining drinking establishments.

The concept is to leave early on Saturday morning, stopping in Madison for a late breakfast. Then proceeding along beautiful Route 60 following the Wisconsin River to Prairie Du Chien as a base camp. The afternoon and early evening is spent “testing” some county roads through the coolies near the Mississippi, culminating in a steak dinner and cocktails at some of the rustic taverns peppering the area.

Sunday can be a highway shot back or spent touring county roads southeast to Chicagoland. Your choice.

Is this an event to bring the significant other? That depends, not much shopping available or time for antiquing but certainly plenty to look at.

We’re looking at the weekend of June 26-27th.

Is this driver focused outing but we’re open to ideas. And yes, there will be special Fuelfed event magnets as a badge of honor.

Please leave a comment below if you’re interested or have input.

I’m in. I would like to suggest we tie this trip into one of the Sunday morning Cars and Coffee gatherings at 2Shores in Lake Mills. Here is the link for their website. http://www.2-shores-classics.com They have two scheduled for June one on the 13th and the other on the 27th. I can do the 27th.
